Healthy Pumpkin Spice Latte
I love PSLs (Pumpkin Spice Lattes) so I had to create a healthy pumpkin spice latte recipe! Everyone gets so excited when the Pumpkin Spice Lattes make their comeback. They are a yummy drink but they do have some not so great ingredients like food colouring, artificial flavouring, preservatives, and so much sugar. The good news is that you can very easily make your very own Healthy Pumpkin Spice Latte at home, and it will actually have healing benefits!
Health Benefits of Roasted Dandelion Root
What makes this Healthy Pumpkin Spice Latte healthy is that I use roasted dandelion root “coffee” instead of coffee. It is a fantastic caffeine free alternative to coffee that has a robust coffee like flavour because of the roasting process. Dandelion root “coffee” is also bursting with health benefits.
- Dandelion roots can help improve digestion, relieve constipation, and soothe an upset stomach.
- They are a liver tonic that detoxifies the liver and eases congestion in the liver which can cause morning sickness.
- Dandelion roots help purify the bladder and kidneys and reduce the risk of urinary tract infections, which are important to avoid when pregnant as they can lead to preterm labour.
- Roasted Dandelion “Coffee” contains over 50 trace minerals in each cup, most of which the body uses to help synthesize compounds needed in metabolism.
NOTE: Although dandelion is generally considered safe, no formal safety studies have been done on women who are pregnant or nursing.
