Almond Cherry Smoothie has all the makings of a perfect early summer treat! Although the gorgeous cherry blossoms may be gone, the trees left us with tons of delicious cherries ready to be eaten! Almond Cherry Smoothie combines creaminess from blended almonds, tartness from cherries and tons of nutrients from the spinach. It is tangy, sweet and just the right amount of decadent.

Health benefits of cherries

Not only are cherries awesome because they’re in season (wahoo!), they have tons of health benefits;

  • They are super high in antioxidants which help with cancer prevention and slow down ageing. Quercetin – one of the most potent antioxidants, is abundant in cherries.
  • Cherries are anti-inflammatory and may help reduce pain and inflammation, especially in people with osteoarthritis.
  • Consuming cherries has been linked to a higher production of melatonin at night which helps improve your sleep.

Almond Cherry Smoothie Recipe

(vegan, gluten-free, paleo, sugar-free)

Prep time: 5 minutes | Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cup almond milk
  • 1.5 cup cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder* optional
  • 2 Tbsp almonds
  • 4 ice cubes *if cherries are fresh and not frozen

Directions:

  1. Blend and enjoy!

NOTE: For the Almond Cherry Smoothie pictures I didn’t add spinach because once you add it everything turns brown. Brown smoothies, although still delicious, are not pretty!

Almond Cherry Smoothie combines creaminess from blended almonds, tartness from cherries and tons of nutrients from the spinach! Its tangy, sweet and just the right amount of decadent!
Ingredients
  • 1.5 cup almond milk
  • 1.5 cup cherries, pitted
