Chocolate Monkey Power Smoothie
Get back on track this year with my Chocolate Monkey Power Smoothie! I created this yummy power smoothie for Downright Domestic viewers who are on the go and love staying active. The segment aired on Rogers TV in December, but if you missed it you can watch it here!

I generally recommend my clients do something active at least 4 times a week and ideally every day. It can be anything from a vigorous vinyasa yoga class to a brisk 30 minute walk. The most important thing is finding an activity that you enjoy.
The Chocolate Monkey Power Smoothie is fantastic for active people because it contains:
- Banana and coconut water which are both high in potassium and will balance your electrolyte levels
- Kale which is packed with nutrients like vitamin C, vitamin A and antioxidants and it has anti-inflammatory properties
- Chia seeds which provide lots of energy and are full of protein, omega 3 fatty acids, potassium, antioxidants and calcium
- Magnesium packed raw cacao powder which will sooth sore muscles and the caffeine will provide a great energy boost.
- Coconut oil which provides a big dose of healthy fat that your body can convert directly to energy and never stores as fat
- Blood sugar balancing cinnamon
Chocolate Monkey Power Smoothie
(vegan, nut free, gluten free, paleo)
Prep time: 5 minutes | Serving size: 1 smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1 banana
- 1 big kale leaf
- 1 Tbsp chia seeds
- 1 cup coconut water
- 1 scoop protein powder
- 2 Tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1 Tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
- Place all of the power smoothie ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
