Candy Cane Mule Cocktail
Holiday party season means more delicious drink recipes to delight your guests! My Candy Cane Mule Cocktail is an exciting one because it celebrates two of my favourite things: kombucha and candy canes! Get into the holiday spirit with my Candy Cane Mule Cocktail! Find the recipe and health benefits below. Cheers!
My Candy Cane Mule Cocktail is a twist on the traditional Mule because we’re swapping ginger beer for kombucha, and we’re adding mint for that lovely candy cane flavour pop. However, we are keeping to tradition in that we’re serving this delicious drink in copper mugs. Not only does the copper keep your drink ice cold all evening, but it makes for incredibly pretty photos, AND it’s the perfect mug to cheer your friends with! If you don’t have copper mugs (like me) you can serve my Candy Cane Mule Cocktail in a lowball glass.

Ingredients
- 1.5 oz peppermint vodka

- 3 ice cubes
- ¾ cup ginger kombucha
- 5 frozen cranberries for garnish
- Mint sprig for garnish
- 1 lime sliced for garnish
- 1 candy cane for garnish

NOTE
You can use ginger beer in place of ginger kombucha. If you don’t have peppermint vodka use regular vodka add 1/16 tsp peppermint extract.
Traditionally, Mules are served in copper mugs to keep them cold, if you don’t have one use a lowball glass.
Health Benefits of Kombucha
Kombucha is a fantastic and healthy substitute for pop or other sugar-laden drinks. It has a multitude of health benefits, it is:
- Rich in probiotics – the good bacteria that populate the gut. Probiotics aid in digestion, fight bad bacteria and facilitate the absorption of nutrients
- Full of active enzymes that help with digestion and reduce constipation
- High in B vitamins that provide a vibrant energy boost
- Kombucha is alkalinizing so it raises the body’s pH making you more resistant to disease
- Metabolism-boosting and charged with antioxidants
- Detoxifying and liver cleansing
- Kombucha is made through the fermentation of sugar so it does contain a little alcohol, usually less than 1%.
Make Your Own Kombucha
Making delicious homemade kombucha is super easy, and nutritious and saves you a ton of money! I was intimidated by the kombucha-making process but everything changed when my fantastic friend showed me how quick and easy it is to make. Now I’m totally hooked on this incredible fizzy and sour drink! Learn to make your own step-by-step here.
Health Benefits of Lime
Limes are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C which neutralize free radicals that can cause cellular damage and cancer. Vitamin C found in limes has the ability to break down histamines which alleviates seasonal allergy and asthma symptoms. Limes also have an antibiotic effect; in fact, lime juice was used in West African villages to protect against cholera.
Health Benefits of Mint
Mint is a soothing herb that promotes digestion and soothes the stomach when it is upset. It is also a natural diuretic and has been used to relieve Irritable Bowel Syndrome and colitis. The refreshing aroma of mint helps ease feelings of nausea and relieves headaches.
