If you have been to my website you will notice that I don’t follow a particular diet, I share recipes that accommodate a wide variety of food allergies and lifestyle choices. Clients always ask me about the “diet” I follow so in this video, I’m going to share my eating style (because who likes the word diet).
I’m going to tell you the background story of how I came to eat the way I do and share my day to day eating style.

My Eating Style Background Story
I have struggled with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and food allergies on and off for most of my life, starting when I was a baby! I knew something had to change when the Irritable Bowel Syndrome symptoms I was experiencing kicked into high gear while I was studying Engineering at University.
I started my healing journey by visiting a holistic practitioner who gave me the guidance I needed to heal my leaky gut. A big part of this was following a really strict diet that allowed my gut time to heal. For several years, I was strictly grain-free, gluten-free, dairy-free (except for butter) and couldn’t eat anything processed including sugar, alcohol, and even some spices. It was really hard, especially because I was in University!
Once my leaky gut had healed, I was able to slowly introduce foods back into my diet. Now my body is able to handle small amounts of the foods that used to send me running for the washroom.
My Eating Style Broken Down
I am not 100% dairy-free. I am lactose intolerant but I digest butter really well. On occasion, I also enjoy goat or sheep cheese and yogurt.
I am not vegan or vegetarian. As much as I would love to avoid animal products, my body does not do well without them. I enjoy organic meat a couple times a week.
I am not paleo. I like to eat legumes and whole grains.
I am 100% gluten-free. I generally stay away from processed flours and gluten, but I digest spelt flour really well so I use that in my baking from time to time.
My eating style doesn’t have a label!
After years of experimenting, I have found a diet that I thrive on that leaves me bursting with energy.
I eat whole foods, lots of veggies, stay away from processed foods, and limit my dairy and gluten intake.
I’m also a foodie, so when I go out to restaurants I take some enzymes and digestive bitters with me and enjoy whatever looks good on the menu with a glass of wine. Oh, and I’m also obsessed with poutine…
