Health-Based Online Lunch and Learn
It’s June! The weather is warming up and the sun is shining. I absolutely love this time of year. Everyone is outside enjoying the lovely change in the air. It’s a perfect time for my health-based online Lunch and Learn Eat for Energy. I’ll teach you all about the holistically simple ways to get your energy up so you can make the most of the long summer days and steamy summer nights. I also have two delicious virtual cooking classes planned: Easy Healthy Desserts & Lemon Lovers Sweet and Savoury.
Health-Based Online Lunch and Learn: Eat For Energy!
During this engaging health-based online Lunch and Learn, I’ll teach you and your team what to eat and do each day to stay energized throughout your workday. I’ll explain the best things to eat at breakfast and lunch to properly fuel your workday. I’ll even give simple tips to help overcome the dreaded afternoon slump.
While it’s true that your body converts food into energy, different kinds of foods are converted to energy at different rates. There are certain foods you can eat — such as candy and other simple sugars — that will give you a quick lift. Others — such as whole grains and healthy unsaturated fats — give you more sustained energy to draw on throughout the day.
What are the best foods to help fuel your day? Well, some foods work better than others.
Here are some of my favourite foods to eat for a bit of an energy boost:
- Almonds, cashews, and hazelnuts are high in magnesium, a mineral that plays a key role in helping the body convert food into energy. Their higher fat content also comes with higher calorie content, so portion control is key! Keep a bag of mixed nuts in your desk drawer and snack sensibly to keep your energy levels up.
- Bananas: Talk about energizing and convenient! Bananas are nature’s perfect snack. They’re high in fiber, B vitamins, and potassium, which energize the muscles and brain.
- Strawberries: For a quick fix, grab a handful of juicy strawberries especially when they’re in season. Natural sugar from fruit (aka fructose) is a better choice than the kind you’d get in candy since fruit also contains fiber, which helps your body more slowly absorb the sweet stuff.
- Hummus is a Mediterranean dish made from pureed chickpeas, sesame seed paste, olive oil, and lemon juice. Chickpeas are composed of carbs, protein, and fat. This means you’ll get a nice boost of energy from the carbs, while the protein and fat help stabilize blood sugar by slowing down carb absorption.
So step away from the coffee and candy, and grab one of these seven energy-boosting foods instead.

Team-Building Virtual Cooking Classes for June
Today more than ever, we care about what we eat and want to know what’s in our food and where it comes from. The best way to do that is to create our own meals. In my virtual cooking classes, my tested-till-perfect recipes are here to help. They’re fun, easy and deliver amazing results! This month we are making DESSERT… who doesn’t love dessert? And Lemon recipes that will have your summer picnic ready in no time.
Cooking Class 1: Easy Healthy Desserts
It’s only when you start paying attention to food labels that you realize just how often sugar makes the top three ingredients. I’ll show you how simple it can be to eat amazing desserts using natural, unrefined sugar. Now you can enjoy the sweet things in life and not feel guilty. Desserts that are so healthy you can eat them for breakfast!
We will be making delectable No-bake brownies and Homemade melt-in-your-mouth Oatmeal Cookies. This class is super popular and for good reason.
Cooking Class 2: Lemon Lovers Sweet & Savory
When life gives you lemons I give you the skills to create Rocket Chicken Salad with a refreshing lemon vinaigrette and Zesty lemon poppy seed bites. These nutritious, satisfying and delicious recipes are an excellent way to kick start your summer!
Nutritionist tip: Don’t toss those lemon peels: Lemon peels contain hydroxy acids that tighten, brighten and exfoliate. Rub a fresh peel gently on dark spots to lighten and smooth, then rinse with cool water.
Need some more summer meal inspiration? Check out my favourite Must-try summer recipes.
Mood-Boosting Blueberry Quinoa Salad will fill your tummy and boost your mood. The star of this recipe is the blueberries that are on the salad and in the dressing.
I have been making my Savoury Watermelon Salad for so long I’m so excited to finally share the recipe with you! When most people think of watermelon, they think of sweet fruit salad, right? But why not make this delicious hydrating fruit to a new level by introducing it into the savoury game!
Try my Fizzy Lavender Lemonade. Nothing is better than sipping a cold glass of refreshing fizzy lavender lemonade while sitting in the sun with a good book! My favourite summer activity is reading in the sun, it’s so relaxing and I love the way the sun feels on my skin.
Greek Lettuce Cups can be made in less than 30 minutes making them perfect for busy weeknights. The protein in this recipe is lamb which pairs so well with Greek seasoning and mint. The tomatoes and cucumber add a really nice crunch and the goat cheese and plain yogurt add a creamy tanginess.
