Healthy Restaurants in Lisbon
Staying healthy while traveling can seem like a challenge but it doesn’t have to be. Before I take off on a trip, I always research healthy restaurants near the places I’m staying. Happy Cow is a fantastic website where you can to look up vegetarian restaurants worldwide. I would highly recommend checking it out before you embark on your next trip. I also like to book accommodations with a kitchen so I have the option to make my own meals and save a little money.
I recently got back from an awesome surfing trip to Portugal. I spent most of the time on the coast surfing, chilling on the beach and making my own meals, but I spend a couple days sightseeing in Lisbon as well. I was so happy to find some healthy restaurants in Lisbon so I am going to share them with you in this post.
For those to eat fish, it is pretty easy to eat at restaurants in Portugal. The most popular dish, which can be found at almost all restaurants, is fresh caught fish with veggies and boiled potatoes. I had this almost every time we went to a restaurant and I was never disappointed. The fish was always grilled to perfection and was so fresh it melted in your mouth.
Terra Restaurante Natural Restaurant Review
Terra means “earth” and everything served at Terra Restaurante Natural is grown from the earth. They serve vegan and vegetarian meals made with mostly organic ingredients. The food is a mix of vegetarian versions of traditional Portuguese cuisine and dishes from the East and Mediterranean. The specialities are presented in an abundant buffet consisting of salads, curries, roasted veggies and other ethnic specialities.
Terra Restaurante Natural is located on the edge of old Bairro Alto which is Lisbon’s famous restaurant district where the restaurants and diners overflow onto the winding cobblestone streets. It has a beautiful backyard garden that is the perfect oasis from the busy streets.
Cone ou Copo Review
If you are looking for a sweet gluten free and dairy free treat to cool you down on a hot day, Cone Ou Copo is the place to go. Usually, when I ask for diary free gelato the only option is lemon, which is yummy but it’s nice to have some variety. Cone Ou Copo has a variety of gluten free and dairy free options including a refreshing strawberry gelato and a dark chocolate gelato that tasted just like fudge.
