Healthy Holiday Eating

Eating a salad before the holiday feast can increase veggie intake by 23%. This is because when you first sit down to a meal you are hungry, so you are likely to eat whatever is put in front of you. It will also fill you up and reduce the amount of high-calorie food you eat during the main course and your overall caloric intake during that meal. This is perfect for those looking to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight.

Other tips to staying healthy during the holiday season without feeling deprived:

  • Drink water
  • Eat green every day
  • Focus on quality over quantity

Fresh Cranberry Apple Kale Slaw

I love the sweetness the apple and cranberries bring to this delicious fresh slaw. It is fantastic to make in large batches, you can store it in the fridge to enjoy through the week. It is also a really nice slaw to serve during the holiday season because of the beautiful red and green colours. The kale is great for liver detox after festive drinks and contains vitamin C to boost your immune system.

Healthy Holiday Eating with @jesselwellness Maple Balsamic Salad by Jesse Lane Wellness

Marinated Balsamic Salad

Marinated Balsamic Salad takes some time but the end result is worth it. It is so cool that marinating onions can take away the astringent flavour the same way cooking them does. Marinating the mushrooms has a similar effect and softens them up. This salad is perfect for the fall and is a delicious addition to your feast.
