Healthy Soups vs Smoothies
As the weather gets colder, steamy soups are the best way to warm you up from the inside out. That is why over the winter months, healthy soups are the new smoothies!
Soups are packed with all of the same nutrients as smoothies, and you can get even more variety. During my segment on Breakfast Television, I talk about 4 soup recipes from my brand new cookbook Healthy Homemade Soups and Sandwiches.
The segment originally aired on January 26, 2017.
Healthy Soups from the Segment
Carrot Orange Blender Soup

Directions:
- Place all ingredients in a high-powered blender. Blend on low and slowly increase the speed to high.
- Blend for roughly 5 minutes on high until steaming and enjoy.
NOTE: This only works in a high-quality blender, otherwise the motor will overheat.
Beet Soup with Dill Cream Sauce
This soup is very simple, but the flavours hit each of your little taste buds. The beets are sweet, rich, and earthy and are balanced out with the zing of lemon. When you swirl in the dill cream you get a savoury, creamy, and tangy little burst. You can even enjoy this soup in the summer! It’s super refreshing when it’s chilled. Did you know that it’s actually better to consume warm foods and beverages when you’re really hot? It’s true.

Cauliflower Almond Soup
This silky smooth soup is the perfect way to warm up on a cold day. Cancer-fighting cauliflower is the star ingredient of this soup and the nutmeg gives it spicy warmth. The navy beans and almond butter make this soup surprisingly filling enough to be a meal.
