As we age and our ability to produce collagen declines and our joints become stiff and painful. We often forget that food can have powerful anti-inflammatory properties that reduce the pain associated with arthritis. I shared anti-inflammatory recipes using DeepMarine Collagen on CH Morning Live on March 5, watch the segment here
Health Benefits of DeepMarine Collagen
Marine collagen is more absorbable than bovine so tends to generate greater results.
DeepMarine helps relieve arthritis in two ways. High-quality marine collagen reduces inflammation in the body by calming the overactive immune response that causes chronic and damaging inflammation. This makes DeepMarine very effective at reducing joint stiffness, which makes the movement more smooth and comfortable.
DeepMarine’s collagen also helps bring special peptides to damaged joint cartilage and strengthen these important tissues so that joints are less painful and function better.
To manage mild to moderate arthritis, 5g/day is enough, while moderate to more severe arthritis can be helped with 10g/day
DeepMarine Collagen is a 100% made-in-Canada collagen. It is wonderful to have a local, natural and high-quality choice for arthritis and joint pain relief. It’s nice to be able to look to a Canadian-made, natural product for effective joint pain relief as many medications often prescribed for this purpose have undesirable side effects. It is available online at DeepMarine.ca and also at Noah’s Natural Foods in Toronto.
Adding a scoop of collagen to coffee is a great way to add anti-inflammatory properties to your favourite morning drink. It dissolves really easily, but you can use a frother to make sure it is fully mixed.
Anti-inflammatory Tropical Smoothie
Tropical Bliss smoothie instantly transports you to a tropical paradise just by closing your eyes and taking a sip. The juicy mangoes are concentrated in Vitamin A and the tangy pineapples contain a digestive enzyme called bromelain which is great for reducing inflammation.
I added a scoop of marine collagen to this recipe to boost its anti-inflammatory properties. You can get the recipe in my free eBook 7 Days of Smoothies.
Cinnamon Blueberry Oatmeal
Oatmeal is a comforting breakfast that will warm you up from the inside out. To make my oats anti-inflammatory, I add collagen, omega-3 rich chia seeds and antioxidant-packed blueberries.

- 1 Tbsp maple syrup to taste
- 2 Tbsp chopped pecans
- 1 Tbsp chia seeds
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- Whisk together oats, collagen, cinnamon, milk, vanilla, and nut butter in small pot.
- Cook on medium-low for 8 to 10 minutes until desired consistency is reached.
- Spoon into a bowl and top with a drizzle of maple syrup, pecans, chia seeds, and blueberries.
