This unique cooking class offers a twist—you get to select your second recipe. Opt for a savoury and sensible option or go for a sweet and luxurious treat. You can join me in making my Cranberry Apple Kale Slaw to hit your daily greens quota, or indulge in my Apple Cider Cocktail/Mocktail instead for a delightful happy hour experience. Regardless of your choice, you’ll enjoy the benefits of these delightful and nourishing autumn fruits!
An Apple A Day
Speaking of benefits, apples are packed with nutritional benefits! For starters, they’re filled with tons of water, fibre, and pectin, which promote digestion and nourish beneficial gut bacteria. With 1 gram of protein per serving, apples contribute to a well-rounded diet and are rich in vitamins and minerals that support overall health. They also contain vitamin C, which strengthens the immune system, aids in maintaining healthy skin and connective tissue, and more. Additionally, apples are an excellent source of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory flavonoids that play a crucial role in disease prevention. The saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” might not be a joke after all!
September Cooking Class #2: Embrace The Corn Harvest
In my opinion, corn is an essential part of the fall season! These starchy yellow vegetables are in season and so delicious this time of year. Celebrate this classic staple food with my Embrace the Corn Harvest Fall Cooking Class, where I’ll guide you through the process of creating two distinct recipes that showcase the magnificence of corn. First, we’ll make my mouth-watering Fresh Corn Salsa. Then we’ll prepare my delectable Coconut Curry Corn Soup, a creamy dish that will be a perfect addition to your cozy nights at home. Together, we’ll embrace the bountiful flavours of corn and create memorable culinary experiences for your team to enjoy!
Is Corn Actually A Health Food?
Corn is an extraordinary food that often goes unrecognized for its numerous health benefits. Firstly, it is rich in fibre and water, particularly when steamed or boiled. These components play a vital role in promoting good digestion and overall well-being. According to a 2009-2010 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 95% of the US population fails to consume adequate fibre. Insufficient fibre intake has been linked to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and certain cancers. This gluten-free, high-protein carbohydrate provides an excellent opportunity to bridge the fibre gap that many of us may be experiencing.
Corn is also an excellent source of carotenoids. Carotenoids belong to a group of antioxidants that aid in protecting the body against harmful free radicals. For thousands of years, corn has been a dietary staple within indigenous cultures, and although our modern industrialized corn may have a slightly less dense nutritional profile, it’s still a healthy option in my books!
What My Clients Are Saying
We are so glad we saw Jesse on Breakfast Television one morning! We held our annual Administrative Professionals Day Celebration in April for our administrative staff at SickKids Hospital (around 80 people) and we reached out to Jesse to give an in-person “Lunch and Learn” presentation on Stress, Mood & Immune System.
She was great! She was very interactive, and the presentation was very informative. We received a lot of great feedback from our administrative team afterwards! Jesse was great to deal with and very professional!
We look forward to dealing with Jesse again in the future!
