- Enjoy as is or over brown rice.
NOTE: I found it easier to bake on two different sheet pans (I added it to one for the pictures), but if you are cutting the recipe in half, you can make it on one to save on dishes.
You’ve heard how good salmon is for you, but do you know why?
Salmon is full of healthy fats and is one of the most nutrient-dense foods that you can eat. Let’s see how incorporating salmon in your diet can support your health.
- Brain Health: Salmon is rich in EPA and DHA, which are Omega-3 Fatty Acids. These are integral for mood, memory and overall brain health.
- Heart Health: Omega-3 Fatty Acids are also known to lower inflammation, lower blood pressure and improve cholesterol levels, which all support cardiovascular health.
- Antioxidants: Salmon contains an antioxidant called astaxanthin, which fights off oxidative stress, therefore slowing down the aging process. (Note: Wild Salmon offers higher levels of astaxanthin)
- Strong Bones: Salmon has high levels of Vitamin D and Phosphorus, which offer support in bone health and the absorption of calcium into the bones.
- Blood Sugar Support: Salmon is great for maintaining healthy blood sugar levels as it offers a combination of protein, fat and carbohydrates.
- Skin & Hair: Astaxanthin also supports skin elasticity, which we lose as we grow older. It also reduces inflammation. Salmon will help you glow from the inside out!
- High Protein: One salmon filet (depending on size) contains from 22-39g of protein, allowing it to be an amazing protein source for your lunch or dinner.

Homemade Salmon Sushi
Sushi seems like one of those meals you only get out at a restaurant on a special occasion. You can definitely be made it at home. It’s actually quite easy! Making it at home allows you to include ingredients that you want. This recipe specifically is packed with protein, healthy fats and tons of colourful veggies. Miso Butter Salmon & Green Beans
This is one that me, my husband AND my kids approve of (if you have kids, you know this is rare). The salmon and miso pair perfectly together. They offer both a delicious flavour and many health benefits to go along with it. Miso is a Japanese seasoning made from fermented soybeans. It provides that rich and savoury flavour which really complements the salmon! You can also add some rice, quinoa or sweet potatoes if you’re looking for those extra carbs.
BBQ Salmon with Grilled Corn Salsa
Another one that my whole family is asking for at least once a week! While this may look like a more summery dish, it is SO yummy that we continue to make it through every season (it’s made on the BBQ, but you can always bake it). The kick of cumin and chilli powder cooked onto the salmon pairs perfectly with the refreshing, colourful grilled corn salsa. Squeeze some lime on top, and you’ve brought summer to your kitchen (just ignore the leaves or snow all over your lawn).
