We really enjoyed our lunch & learn with Jesse Lane. She had great tips to reduce our stress and to stay energized in the workplace. Her presentation was fun, informative and interactive. Jesse Lane is a committed and passionate nutritionist who we learned a lot from. We would definitely recommend her lunch & learns, and look forward to working with her again in the future.

Salt and Vinegar Crispy Chickpeas a healthy snack by @jesselwellness

Online Healthy Cooking Class #1: Nutritious Delicious Snacks

I love a good snack! And snacking is actually one of my favourite ways to feel energized and healthy every day! In this Nutritious Delicious Snacks Cooking Class, you’ll learn how to make Salt and Vinegar Crispy Chickpeas, Homemade Chocolate Peanut Butter Granola Bars, and a smoothie! Bonus: all the recipes we’ll make together are kid-friendly so you can ensure your kids have something healthy to munch on too!

Health Benefits of Chickpeas

This cooking class stars many ingredients but chickpeas are one of my favourites! Chickpeas, aka garbanzo beans, are the main ingredient in hummus. They’re so versatile! You can use them for dips, in baking, in curries, and as a crunchy snack! Chickpeas are also bursting with health benefits too!

  • They are super high in fiber which helps with blood fat regulation and lowers LDL cholesterol.
  • Fiber is also fantastic for the colon. Chickpeas contain insoluble fiber, which sweeps clean the digestive system. Insoluble fiber can be metabolized by bacteria in the colon to provide fuel for your intestinal lining.
  • They were found to promote satiety, studies show that chickpeas can reduce appetite and promote greater food satisfaction.
  • Chickpeas contain a variety of antioxidants that keep us healthy including vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, and flavonoids like quercetin, kaempferol, and myricetin.

Online Healthy Cooking Class #2: Pesto Salmon & Potato Salad

You might know by now that I’m salmon obsessed. In this month’s Pesto Salmon & Potato Salad Cooking Class, I’ll teach you how to elevate your salmon by topping it with a bright herb-infused pesto. We’ll serve that alongside a Warm Asparagus Salad that stars soft potatoes, crispy asparagus, and a lemony fresh vinaigrette. Yum!

Health Benefits of Asparagus

Asparagus season has just begun! I love finding ways to utilize fresh, local, in-season produce in my cooking whenever possible. Asparagus is a favourite in our house, and as a nutritionist, I love how it helps to keep my family healthy too!

  • It is packed with cleansing chlorophyll (which gives it that bright green colour) as well as tons of nutrients that help to detoxify your body.
  • Asparagus is super high in antioxidants which help protect us against the effects of ageing.
  • It’s fantastic for circulation and can help to reduce the look of varicose veins.
  • Asparagus is also high in a nutrient called folate which (for all you expectant mothers out there) is vital for cell division and can help to ensure a healthy baby!

Why Self-Care Team Building Activities Are All The Rage

The well-being of employees is an organization’s professional responsibility to its workers, it’s not just personal. Many team leaders across the globe are embracing the call for wellness to be integrated in the workplace as a means to boost your team’s health and productivity. My self-care team-building activities like online healthy cooking classes and Lunch & Learns are the perfect way to bring a dose of wellness into the office. Equipping your team with tools to care for themselves shows them you care about more than just their productivity. Self-care is needed both in and out of the workplace. My presentations help you to get to know which health topics are on your team’s mind. They create a work environment that strategizes to address them. When wellness is in the workplace, team members feel prioritized and cared for, leading to better performance and higher retention. Who doesn’t want that!?
