Easy to Follow Cooking Class and Fall Corporate Wellness

Your team is going to love the easy to follow cooking class and fall corporate wellness events I have planned. Autumn is such a beautiful time of year. Juicy apples, coloured leaves, fuzzy sweaters, pumpkins everywhere. It’s the perfect time of year to cozy up with a warm drink and relax. But when the seasons change, so does our health. It’s no shock that despite all of the wonderful things of fall, it also brings us something else, cold and flu season.

The last thing you want is to have to cancel plans or stay home in bed due to illness. That could mean losing out on work, school, family time, or fun, and that sucks! But what can we do about it? Well, there are many natural ways we can help support our immune systems so when sickness strikes, our bodies are fully prepared for combat. In my October Lunch & Learn I’ll be teaching you tons of my nutritionist-approved tips and tricks to keep your immune system strong this season.

October Corporate Wellness Lunch & Learn: How to Boost Your Immune System Naturally

During this Lunch & Learn I will be sharing with you some of my favourite ways to support immunity and fight illness naturally. I’ll also explain the link between stress and the immune system and why lowering your stress can mean fewer sick days.

In This Lunch And Learn I’ll Teach You How To:

  • Understand the immune system and what it actually does
  • The difference between innate and adaptive immunity, and how poor nutrition can impact your immune function
  • How to boost your immune system with nutrition, including tips on what to eat and what not to eat
  • Ways your lifestyle and habits might be impacting your immune system for better or worse
  • And more

Set your team up for a healthy October! I can’t wait to share more with you and your team in this powerful and informative Lunch & Learn.

Our Kingstar Media team had a blast attending Jesse Lane’s cooking class! During the class I loved how engaging Jesse Lane was with everyone, she did this by asking everyone light-hearted questions and encouraging people to unmute themselves on zoom. It created a comfortable and fun environment to talk freely and ask any cooking questions. Jesse Lane was such an amazing teacher. Her positive and happy energy could fill a room! You can tell, even through zoom, how kind of a person she is. The Kingstar Media team will most definitely be participating in more classes and will refer her to clients, friends, family etc.

East to follow cooking class 1: Pumpkin Spice Breakfast

October is nothing without its mascot vegetable, pumpkins! I’m so excited to help you find more delicious and creative ways to get your pumpkin fix. This cooking class focuses on bringing pumpkins into your breakfast menu. My Pumpkin Spice Muffins are a quick grab-and-go breakfast that will warm you right up and fuel your day. A combination of cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and maple syrup give these Pumpkin Spice Muffins their warm, autumn-y flavour. We’ll also be making my Pumpkin Pie Smoothie. We’ll make this quick and easy breakfast together step by step. If you ever wished you could eat dessert for breakfast here’s your chance! This healthy smoothie is a twist on your average pumpkin pie, but with the classic and familiar flavour of everyone’s favourite fall dessert.

Health Benefits of Pumpkins

Did you know that national pumpkin day is October 26th? There are literally hundreds of pumpkin varieties grown worldwide, the variety we usually bake with is called sugar pumpkin or pie pumpkin.

Some of the health benefits of these bright orange pumpkins include:

  • Support eye health and sharpen your vision due to the high concentration of vitamin A
  • Keep you feeling full for longer and keep your digestive tract happy due to fibre content
  • Boost the immune system so you can avoid cold and flu season due to high amounts of vitamin C
  • Helps you sleep like a baby because of the phytonutrient tryptophan

These vegetables are a classic healthy and seasonal way to ring in any October morning.

Easy to follow cooking class 2: Healthy Halloween

This Healthy Halloween Cooking class is anything but scary! In this class, I’ll be sharing two fun and healthy Halloween-inspired recipes that are easy to make and delicious! We’ll be getting spooky with my Pumpkin Spice White Russian Cocktail/Mocktail. This is a healthy twist on the classic White Russian with a little pumpkin flare. This is the perfect drink to cozy up with after a long day. It won’t be hard to get more into the Halloween spirit with my Jack-o-Lantern Stuffed Peppers. These peppers are one of the most fun recipes to make with kids! Together we’ll be turning our peppers into healthy, millet stuffed, jack-o-lanterns. These are the perfect way to fuel a busy night of trick-or-treating, or any other October activities.

Health Benefits of Millet

If you’ve never had millet before you’re in for a healthy surprise! Millet is a small ancient grain that looks like a tiny round bead. It is an important staple in Africa and has been cultivated for over 8,000 years. Although it is generally used as birdseed in North America, millet has many health benefits that include:

  • Manganese and phosphorus which support bone health
  • Millet is a heart-healthy grain because it is high in magnesium which lowers high blood pressure
  • Gut cleaning insoluble fiber which prevents constipation and helps prevent gallstones
  • Millet is gluten-free, hypoallergenic and has an alkaline effect on the body
