August Wellness Series: Equip Your Team with the Tools for a Healthy Summer with Nutrition Education Webinars

Can you believe that we are already halfway through summer?! The warm weather and sunny days won’t last long, so we need to enjoy them while we can. In my opinion, summer is most enjoyable when I feel and look my best, and this is where my nutrition education webinars come in.

Summer can be so busy for most of us with full-time jobs, kids home from school, weddings and all those fun-filled events. With this packed schedule, we tend to put our health and wellness habits to the side.

Nutrition Education Webinars

I offer nutrition education webinars that provide your team with the tips they need to reconnect with their bodies and take their health to the next level. I make these lunch & learns simple to ensure that your team doesn’t get overwhelmed. They are informative enough to be able to take these tidbits home and see some real change in their health habits.

I am a Holistic Nutritionist, Corporate Wellness Educator, and Cookbook Author with a passion for creating meaningful moments around food and well-being. My favourite part of my work is bringing people together. Whether it’s to unwind, learn new health habits, take part in a hands-on cooking class, or just to simply reconnect with their team in a more mindful way!

These nutrition education webinars are intentionally designed to be short and impactful. This makes it easier to squeeze into your busy day, making use of a lunch break instead of shovelling your food down and scrolling through Instagram. This month, I am offering a Lunch & Learn on How to Eat Seasonally All Year, and two cooking classes – Peachy Keen and Sweet & Savoury Zucchini

Lunch & Learn: How to Eat Seasonally All Year

This August, I am offering a new lunch & learn, providing you and your team with tips and tricks on how to eat seasonally all year. Eating seasonally has tremendous health benefits, including higher nutritional content, better taste, lower cost, supports local farmers, less harmful pesticides and herbicides, as well as helping the environment.

Throughout this nutrition education webinar, I will teach you how to make the most out of what you’re eating. Together, we’ll explore:

  • What is currently in season
  • The benefits of eating seasonally
  • How you can eat seasonally all year
  • Healthy recipes made with some fresh summer produce

You and your team will leave the webinar feeling empowered to take control of your diet. You will learn how you can use little tricks like this to improve your nutrition! Once you learn how to eat like this and experience the benefits. You will enjoy eating again and will make the remainder of your summer even more enjoyable.

Peach Gingerbread Upside Down Cake by Jesse Lane Lee

Cooking Class: Peachy Keen

Did you know August is National Peach Month? In my house, we choose to celebrate as much as we can. Join me this August in indulging in this juicy fruit as I teach you how to make a decadent Gingerbread Upside Down Cake and a refreshing Spicy Peach Turmeric Smoothie

As mentioned above, eating seasonally is a super effective way to get higher nutritional content and make your recipes taste better. In Ontario, peaches are in season from mid-July to September. They are a staple in my kitchen throughout the whole summer. Not only are peaches so juicy and filled with flavour, but they have many health benefits:

  • High in Vitamin C, which is known to support immune health
  • High in Vitamin A and beta carotene, which are good for eye and skin health
  • Filled with antioxidants that help fight inflammation and oxidative stress
  • Peaches are 85-90% water, making them very hydrating during these hot summer months
  • A great source of dietary fibre
  • Paches have been known to benefit heart health with the fibre, potassium and antioxidant content
Chocolate Zucchini Muffins by Jesse Lane Lee

Cooking Class: Sweet & Savoury Zucchini

It’s zucchini season, and in this hands-on virtual class, we’ll make TWO delicious recipes – Chocolate Zucchini Muffins and Pesto Zucchini Pasta. It is such a fun, interactive way to bring your team together and encourage healthy eating at home.

Sticking to our goal of eating seasonally, zucchinis are in season in Ontario from late June to September. While they are typically not a part of the average person’s grocery haul, zucchinis are full of so many nutrients and can be used in several different ways! They can be used to make both sweet and savoury dishes, so I like to include them in many recipes when they are in season! Some health benefits of zucchinis include:

  • High in nutrients like Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Potassium, Folate & Manganese
  • Full of antioxidants like lutein and zeaxanthin
  • Rich in water and fibre, which will offer better digestion
  • Beneficial for heart health. Potassium is known to help manage blood pressure, and fibre can lower those dangerous LDL cholesterol levels
  • Zucchinis have a low glycemic index and therefore support blood sugar control
  • Prevent disease due to the bioactive compounds found in most fruits and vegetables.

Tip: Eat zucchinis with the skin on, lightly cooked or raw, to retain the most nutrients!
